Man U Fever in KL

I wonder if Syd will give 'me' for a photo with Michael Carrick??!!LOL

Its all sad today

It seems like quite a bleak day in Malaysian news today when the top stories are the death of a Selangor political secretary and a 5year old boy. The former supposedly took his own life after being questioned by MACC and the latter was 'beheaded' by his family's longstanding enemy in Lahad Datu, KK.

Both deaths seem to be without logic and totally unnecessary. Sigh...What can be so terrible that you would take your own life especially when you are supposed to be married the next day? Hopefully in the days ahead, we will know what happened during the all-night questioning he went thru with MACC and hours before his "suicidal jump" from MACC building.Read Zorro's blog for more curious questions regarding the 'bloodless plunge'?

Meanwhile the other death is so primitive and looks like Kota Kinabalu has gone back to 100 years ago!? In this case, the family's longstanding feud with another caused their enemy to chop off the son's head and left the head in a bucket. This probably happened when the boy was alone. What kind of feud is so terrible that you would take an innocent boy's life so primitively?? So i suppose this feud would go on into the next generation? The suspect is only 27years old and the murder supposedly took place with his wife and daughter around! Since then they have gone missing.

Hmm...all in all quite a bleak day in Malaysia today...what do you say?

Masterchef Australia

I have been clicking on this cooking contest show's website from Australia and reading on the recipes prepared. One of the contestants is Poh Ling Yeow(far left of pix) whose family migrated from Malaysia to Adelaide since she was 9years old which was like 27years back. She is an artist by profession but now trying to reclaim her Malaysian roots and culture thru cooking. Looks like she is doing great cos she just won the pie challenge as well as the Malaysian dish challenge. And best of all, i think she is a Hakka...lol. Cos her biography states her fav dish to cook is abacus beads(sun-pun-zhi...hakka dish!!).

This was the Malaysian dish she created - Nasi Lemak with sambal petai and fish custard(or here we call otak2). Her otak2 was more innovative and i suppose more to cater to Aussie taste. I wish this show was aired here so that we can cheer on Poh and hope she goes on to win the contest! Malaysia boleh!!

Gold Scam???

I was introduced to this gold investment scheme sometime earlier this year and it sounded like any "get rich quick" scheme. The gist of the investment is you buy gold bars at a certain rate(at least 30% higher than international gold price ). You hold on to this gold for at least 30days and from the 31st till 38th day(if not mistaken) you can redeem back your investment plus 2.5% interest.

Eg. You invest RM100K, you bring the gold bar back after 30days, you will get back RM102,500in total. Not too sure about the actual terms but in a nutshell this is the scheme. 2.5% per month return!! Sounds fantastic right? As with anything that sounds too good to be true, i declined from investing and selling this scheme. I did check with Bank Negara on this company and they mentioned that a company selling gold doesnt need a license to operate but you invest at your own risk.

Basically its like a goldsmith shop but of course in this case they guarantee you the 2.5% return! Anyway it was reported in "The Star" yesterday as one of the dubious get rich scheme companies in Malaysia. This morning , i got this email from my friend attaching this letter from Genneva to The Star. The letter doesnt sound convincing and looks like they are hiding some facts. But anyhow, you be the judge. As with any "guaranteed with ridiculously high returns" investment, the risk involved would also be super ridiculously HIGH as well!
